KEEPING WARM
Here are some top tips for keeping warm as the temperature plummets over the next few months.
• Make sure you have a warm, windproof and preferably waterproof coat.
• Get a hat, gloves and scarf and keep them on the radiator so they’re warm when you put them on.
• Wear sensible, warm footwear with good grip (flip flops are no good for a Lancaster winter!)
• If you’re really feeling the cold, invest in some thermal underwear or just wear an extra thin cotton layer next to your skin.
• Think about getting an extra duvet or some blankets.
• Eat breakfast as it will boost your metabolism and keep you warm for longer.
• Have a warm drink before bed
• Get a hot water bottle and put it in your bed 20 minutes before you get in (they do microwavable ones too if the hot water worries you!)
• Wear something in bed - even just shorts and a t-shirt will help - and bedsocks are brilliant
• Try and maintain a good diet with plenty of vitamins
• Smile! Winter can be beautiful and a smile will warm everyone around you too!
